Manchester United tightened their hold on a top-four spot in the Premier League after a commanding 3–1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, moving six points clear of Chelsea on 54 points. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur boosted their survival hopes with a dramatic late equaliser to earn a 1–1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Tottenham’s draw lifted them to 30 points, one above both Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, who remain on 29 points in the lower end of the table.
At Anfield, Liverpool appeared on course for victory after Dominik Szoboszlai produced a superb free-kick in the 18th minute to give the hosts the lead. The Hungarian’s strike looked set to secure all three points as Liverpool controlled large periods of the contest.
However, the home side paid the price for failing to convert several second-half chances that could have sealed the match. Tottenham remained resilient and were rewarded in the 90th minute when Richarlison struck a late equaliser to silence the Anfield crowd and secure a crucial point for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace were held to a frustrating goalless draw by ten-man Leeds United. The game took a dramatic turn in first-half stoppage time when Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off after picking up his second yellow card.
Leeds had earlier missed a penalty that could have given them the lead before being reduced to ten men. Palace dominated the second half and created several chances through Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta, but the Eagles were unable to find a decisive breakthrough.
At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest and Fulham settled for a 0–0 draw in a tightly contested encounter. Forest controlled much of the second half but failed to capitalise on late opportunities, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Neco Williams both unable to convert promising chances.
Fulham spent long periods defending but will be satisfied with securing a point on the road, while Forest were left to regret their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
The most convincing performance of the day came at Old Trafford, where Manchester United produced a strong second-half display to defeat Aston Villa 3–1. After a goalless opening half, Bruno Fernandes inspired United’s attack with two key assists.
The Portuguese midfielder first set up Casemiro before creating another opportunity for Matheus Cunha to extend United’s advantage. Substitute Benjamin Šeško then wrapped up the win with a composed finish shortly after coming on.
Villa briefly threatened to fight back when Ross Barkley found the net earlier in the contest, but the visitors faded late in the game, allowing United to secure a vital three points as the race for the top four intensifies.
