President Bola Tinubu has signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law, concluding months of legislative debate over Nigeria’s electoral framework ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The passage of the bill follows a tense and contentious process in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, largely centered on the electronic transmission of polling unit results.
