Justices Ladiran Akintola and Kamorudeen Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, the state capital, have convicted and sentenced 20 Internet fraudsters to different jail terms.
This was disclosed in a statement on the official X handle of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Sunday.
The commission said they were jailed after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence.
The convicts are Olanipekun Gbolahan, Shedrack Victor, Victor Kadri, Idris Gbolahan, Olaiya Samuel, Aparimo Ojoola, Kasimawo Ayomide, Akintaro Oluwabamise, Oladokun Adekola, Hamed Olanrewaju and Rofeek Ayoade.
Others are Olayiwola Olanrewaju, Olusegun-Ola Casmir, Samson Rotimi, Enoch Omotoso, Omodele Idowu, Ayinde Olamide, John Daniel, Akinkuade Folarin and Olanese Michael.
The court convicted and sentenced some of them to one year imprisonment each while other convicts bagged six months community service each.
They were further ordered to restitute their various victims and forfeit all items recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
