Residents revealed that the terrorists stormed the town in their numbers and started shooting from the outskirts of the communities.

“The casualties would have been more but for the efforts of the security operatives and the vigilantes,”  a resident said.

The Commissioner for  Internal Security in Katsina State, Nasiru Muazu, described the incident as unfortunate, adding that the state government would continue to prioritise citizens’ safety.

He said, “The Danmusa incident was unfortunate. If not for the efforts of our community corps and other security operatives who repelled the terrorists, the number of casualties would have been higher. We have even reinforced security in the council.”

In Kaduna,  the terrorists killed a local hunter, identified as Bashir Shekarau; and two commercial drivers, Mustapha Adamu and Malam Muktar.

“Hunters were attacked on Wednesday. One of them was killed by the bandits. And by Saturday two commercial drivers returning to Birnin-Gwari were also shot and killed. Another driver was also hit by the bandits’ bullets. In all, three people were killed between Wednesday and Saturday,” a resident said.
