Two policemen attached to the Imo State police command have been killed by gunmen in an attack on Monday.
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson of the police command, said the incident happened at Ahiara junction in Ahiazu-Mbaise LGA of the state.
Okoye said Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police in Imo, has given instructions to officers to comb the scene of the incident and investigate the matter thoroughly.
“The command has received the ugly news of two of our officers shot dead by assailants. It is very unfortunate the gallant officers lost their lives while on duty at Ahiara junction in Ahaizu-Mbaise LGA,” he said.
“Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade and Joint Task Force (JTF) operatives have started combing the scene of the crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of the hoodlums responsible for the dastardly act.
“The command promises to apprehend the killers sooner than later.”
