Nigeria's national grid has collapsed again, causing nationwide power blackout.
Electricity distribution companies (DisCos), in different notices to customers, said the national grid collapsed at about 12.40 am today, Thursday.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40am today, 14th September,2023," a statement from EEDC said on Thursday.
"This has resulted to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.
"Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
"We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and Enugu Electricity Distribution Plc. restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo," concluded the statement signed by Emeka Ezeh, Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC
Ndidi Mbah, spokesperson for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), also confirmed the development.
“It is a system collapse, but we are trying to restore it,” she said.
This is the first time the electricity national grid will be collapsing in more than one year.
